Bob Rubino

President of CIT Bank N.A. and Head of Commercial Banking, CIT

Robert Rubino is the president of CIT Bank, N.A., the banking subsidiary of CIT, and head of the Commercial Banking segment. He has responsibility for the oversight, strategic direction and growth of the commercial banking divisions, including commercial financing, capital markets, leveraged finance, asset-based lending, real estate financing, equipment financing, commercial services, railcar financing, treasury services, and interest rate and foreign exchange risk management capabilities.

Rubino came to CIT from Santander where he was the co-president of Santander Bank, N.A., and head of Commercial Banking. In that role, he transformed the business into a national commercial banking enterprise producing top performing commercial and industrial growth rates. He developed and executed a new commercial strategy that included launching specialty businesses, opening new offices, and bringing new products and capabilities to market, while enhancing business processes and controls and strengthening client satisfaction.

Prior to that, he served as the executive vice president of Commercial Banking at Citizens Financial Group. During his 10 years with the company, he led Corporate Finance & Capital Markets and was instrumental in building the commercial bank. Prior to Citizens, Rubino served in a variety of executive roles at Bank of America.

He earned a master's degree in economics from the London School of Economics and a bachelor's degree in economics from Providence College.
