Haynes Boone is strategically enhancing its Fund Finance and Asset Securitization Practices with the addition of seven attorneys in the firm’s New York office. The attorneys come from Seward & Kissel LLP, including Partner Greg Cioffi, the head of their Asset Securitization and CLO Practice, and Partner Jeff Berman, who had practiced there for over 20 years. Together, Cioffi and Berman bring over 50 years of securitization and structured finance experience to Haynes Boone with an industry reputation for innovation across multiple asset classes.
In addition to Cioffi and Berman, Haynes Boone is delighted to welcome Partner Andrew Robertson, Counsel David Sagalyn and Associates Brendon Vetter, Grace Nealon and Mariah McGuirk from Seward & Kissel’s asset securitization team.
They bring extensive experience in a broad array of both traditional and esoteric securitization transactions, including collateralized loan obligations (CLOs), collateralized fund obligations (CFOs), rated note feeders, asset-backed commercial paper conduit programs, whole-business securitizations, telecom and receivable securitizations, consumer and student loan facilities, credit relief trades/significant risk transfer and other securitization, structured products and lending transactions. They also have significant expertise regarding risk-retention rules and risk-retention financing structures.
With these new hires, Haynes Boone continues to grow its global finance and corporate practices, further enhancing its ability to support clients in sophisticated and complex transactions across a variety of industries.
“The global fund finance market is expanding and evolving – with many of our commercial and investment banking clients in North America, Europe and Asia offering new debt capital market solutions to their private capital fund and alternative assets clients,” said Haynes Boone Fund Finance Group Co-Head Albert Tan. “The strategic addition of this securitization team complements and significantly bolsters our premier fund finance group’s capabilities and depth to help service our clients’ growing products offerings.”
These additions will expand beyond the firm’s history of representing hedge providers in a variety of oil and gas securitization structures, including take-out financings, mineral interest securitizations, non-operated interest securitizations and more.
“The addition of Greg, Jeff, Andrew and the rest of their team reflects our commitment to expand our top-notch securitization practice to help serve our clients across industries and navigate complex finance transactions,” said Haynes Boone Energy Practice Group Co-Chair Jeff Nichols.
Finally, this marks a noteworthy continuation of expansion for the Haynes Boone New York City office, which recently welcomed Mergers and Acquisitions Partner Zachary Jacobs, saw the promotion of Capital Markets Partner Alok Choksi and has grown to become the firm’s second-largest office globally by attorney headcount.
“We are thrilled to welcome these talented attorneys to our New York office as we continue to broaden our significant presence in the epicenter of finance,” Haynes Boone New York Office Managing Partner Craig Unterberg said. “Adding this group expands our capabilities across our finance practice and enhances the innovative solutions we deliver to clients.”
Late last year, the firm renewed its lease in 30 Rockefeller Plaza and announced plans to move into renovated and expanded square footage in the building in 2025. This came on the heels of the office celebrating its 20th anniversary, a milestone reached after doubling headcount over the previous decade with a focus on strategic growth and dedication to client needs.
