Vice President, Underwriting, Triumph Business Capital
40 Under 40 Category: Underwriting
Biography:
Kim Winters enjoys living in a world of organized chaos in an ever-changing environment. Her success is attributed to the people she has surrounded herself with.
She is 38 and was born in El Paso, TX, but was raised in Las Vegas, NV. Growing up, Kim thought she was going to be a radiologist. Who grows up thinking they are going to work for a factoring company? After a significant learning experience and failing at being an entrepreneur at the early age of 20, she jumped right into management. Kim was a cash control manager for the All American Sport Park, followed by accounting and auditing for a property management company in Las Vegas.
In 2002, Kim’s entire life changed. Her daughter, Angelica Jade, was born. She is called AJ. She is every reason in the world why Kim wants to be successful. Not to mention her parents were extremely hard workers and both independent individuals. With her daughter’s best interest in mind, she decided to move from Las Vegas to Texas where her journey began in the factoring industry.
As an underwriter with more than 12 years of experience, Kim worked for Metro Financial before it was purchased by Greystone Commercial Services. After eight years with Greystone, she was one of the lucky candidates selected to interview for the underwriting manager position with Advance Business Capital LLC dba Triumph Business Capital. In just a few months, she was promoted to vice president of underwriting. Steve Hausman and George Thorson took Kim for a wild ride; experiencing rapid growth, there was a demand to take control and develop a team that is second to none. Kim is proud to have developed the procedures and systems that have allowed Triumph to grow safely, and the skills her team members demonstrate every day. “Developing people” is as important to her as her personal accomplishments and she strives to always learn more to share in their growth and excellence.
When informed she was one of the SFNet 40 Under 40 recipients, Kim said, “What a privilege it is to win this award! It gives me a tremendous amount of encouragement to keep getting better. It is the ultimate compliment.
“Words cannot describe how honored I am to have been nominated for this award. I am proud that my daughter, AJ, will have the opportunity to share the memorable moment with me. I appreciate my nominators, Dan Karas and George Thorson for recognizing me and valuing my contributions.
