Biography:
Paul is a managing director and shareholder based in Conway MacKenzie’s Atlanta office. He provides restructuring and business assistance to troubled companies and their creditors as well as performing private equity portfolio companies through interim management roles. Paul has a unique enthusiasm for helping his clients through difficult situations and has generated an impressive list of successful outcomes throughout his career thus far.
Paul has been involved with a number of significant engagements both within and outside of a formal reorganization process. Paul has experience working for both debtors and creditors on restructurings, loan workout situations, acquisitions and liquidations. Paul is the trusted advisor to a leading global private equity investment firm with $19 billion of capital under management and is often called on directly to assist with their portfolio companies through interim management roles such as chief financial officer (CFO) or VP of finance.
Paul is an active member of the turnaround community, serving as one of the founding members in the Atlanta Turnaround Management Association nextGen group and is active with the Atlanta Chapter of the Commercial Finance Association. He has published articles in both The Journal of Corporate Renewal and The Secured Lender, and speaks at events on general corporate renewal matters.
In 2008, Paul joined Conway MacKenzie to help found the southeast restructuring practice. Paul was the first non-shareholder professional for Conway MacKenzie Atlanta in 2008 and was a critical part of Atlanta’s success. In recognition for his hard work and accomplishments, in 2016 Paul became the youngest new equity shareholder in the 2016 class and the youngest shareholder in Atlanta’s history.
Paul had significant experience prior to joining Conway MacKenzie in 2008. He was with the Atlanta Corporate Finance & Reorganization group of FTI Consulting, Inc., specializing in crisis management and corporate restructuring. Prior to that, he was an accountant in the International Tax Consulting group at Ernst & Young, LLP.
