Sarah Gilbert

Associate, Hahn & Hessen LLP

40 Under 40 Category: Legal Services

Biography:

Sarah Gilbert is a senior associate in the Business Finance Group at Hahn & Hessen LLP. Her practice focuses primarily on representing financial institutions and borrowers in all aspects of commercial lending transactions (including restructurings and work-outs).  She has extensive experience in structuring, negotiating and closing a wide variety of domestic and cross-border financing transactions, including acquisition and leveraged buyout financings, asset-based financings, exit financings, debtor-in-possession financings and letter of credit facilities.

In her role as senior associate, Sarah has successfully mentored associates at all levels, has developed and presented continuing legal education programs to lawyers and has provided training to clients with respect to legal documentation issues.

As a California native, Sarah earned her B.A. from California State University, Chico. While at CSU Chico, Sarah volunteered as a paralegal intern at the Community Legal Information Center (a non-profit organization) where she provided the residents of Chico and the surrounding area with legal information, seminars, workshops and free legal representation in administrative law forums.

Sarah moved to New York City in 2004 to attend Fordham University School of Law.  Sarah was a summer associate at Hahn & Hessen during law school and joined Hahn & Hessen full-time upon her graduation from Fordham in 2007.

Sarah currently lives on the upper west side of Manhattan and as a real travel junkie (when she’s not taking in all New York City has to offer) she spends her spare time planning her next international escape.

When informed she was one of the SFNet 40 Under 40 recipients, Sarah said, “While it is certainly an honor, being chosen as one SFNet’s 40 Under 40 really means is that I have, without a doubt, the best coworkers on the planet.  They were thoughtful enough to recommend me for this award and they took time out of their busy lives to jump through all the hoops to make it happen - I couldn’t be more grateful.”

Her nominator, Jeanne Siegel, partner, Hahn & Hessen LLP, said, “Sarah’s ability to consistently lead transactions to a successful close has been rewarded by our clients’ loyalty to her. Clients rely on her meticulous attention to detail, her insightful approach to problem solving and her skill at making complex issues understandable.”
