Buchalter is pleased to announce the addition of Juan Pablo Albán as a Corporate Shareholder in its Los Angeles office. Albán also joins as a member of the firm’s recently established Latin American Practice Group.
“Juan Pablo is an excellent addition to our Los Angeles office,” said Adam Bass, President and Chief Executive Officer. “His experience with navigating complex corporate matters, coupled with his commitment to client success, aligns well with our firm’s mission to provide tailored solutions and unparalleled service to our clients.”
Buchalter established its Latin America Practice in August of 2023 with the addition of Agustin Ceballos, Chair of the Firm’s Latin America group. As Mexico has surpassed China as the top trade partner with the United States, Buchalter added to its capabilities in order to guide clients establishing and expanding their businesses and commercial interests in Mexico and across Latin America.
“We are thrilled to welcome Juan Pablo. His practice is a valuable addition to our significant national Corporate Practice,” said Jeremy Weitz, Firm-wide Chair of the Corporate Practice group.
Originally from Colombia, Albán is a seasoned corporate lawyer with decades of experience in fund formation and investment management, mergers and acquisitions, private equity and venture capital, as well as renewable energy. He has over twenty years of experience as a California attorney for top-ranked global law firms and has served as external general counsel for SEC-registered private fund managers and venture stage operating companies, among others.
Throughout his career, Albán has represented clients in precedential transactions, such as a family office sponsoring an early SPAC from a successful IPO to a reverse merger with a Hispanic market media company; a private fund in the financing and construction of an award-winning utility-scale solar project in Chile, one of the largest at the time in the country; a private equity manager from its formation to IPOs of early Yieldcos, structured to own cash flow-generating solar and wind projects; and a high-growth renewable energy developer through its formation, strategic asset acquisitions, and multiple series of financing rounds.
“I am excited to join Buchalter and contribute to the firm’s continued growth and success,” said Albán. “With Buchalter’s strong reputation for quality legal services, this move is a strategic step forward for my practice, ensuring the best results for my clients.”
Albán earned his J.D. from Harvard Law School. He earned his B.A. in Economics from Dartmouth College. Albán also earned a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA®) designation.
“Juan Pablo’s experience is a valuable asset to expanding both our existing corporate capabilities and recently established Latin American practice,” added Bass.
