Information an investment advisor registered with the Securities Exchange Commission may be required by law to submit to state securities authorities. Notice-filing was required under various pre-UCC statutes such as the Uniform Trust Receipts Act. Under UCC, notice filing is the method for perfecting almost all non-possessory security interests.
