Introduction to Asset-Based Lending

Introduction to Asset-Based Lending is an in-depth presentation on the dynamics of asset-based lending (ABL), how it works as a working capital tool for businesses, and how ABL transactions are commonly structured. This course provides the participants with industry standardized knowledge, including common structural and lending parameters and risk mitigants.

If you have pieced together your learning on-the-job or are just starting out, this curriculum provides a systematic foundation to help you succeed. Participants will learn:

  • Differences between the most common asset-based structures, including revolving lines of credit and factoring;
  • Why prospects choose ABL;
  • Sources of information to evaluate an ABL opportunity;
  • Facility structures;
  • Facility documentation, and an understanding of each;
  • The paperwork and funds flow of an ABL opportunity through due diligence;
  • Evaluating financial risk; and,
  • Reviewing and monitoring collateral used in an ABL transaction.

We recommend taking this curriculum before moving onto curriculums offered in Underwriting, Portfolio Management, Field Exam, and Business Development. This course is open to all skill levels. Contact Denise Castagna at Dcastagna@sfnet.com with any questions.
