Workouts and Bankruptcy

    Workouts are an unfortunate but occasional occurrence in the asset-based lending industry. SFNet’s Workout and Bankruptcy curriculum helps participants thoroughly understand the fundamentals of workouts and associated bankruptcy protocols, increasing preparation and processes for managing distressed borrowers.

    Participants develop workout strategies and bankruptcy protocols, including:

    • Understanding the legal structures within which problem loans must be resolved;
    • Understanding the basic vocabulary and communication protocols when dealing with workouts and insolvent borrowers;
    • Weighing various recovery strategies in workout and bankruptcy, and interpreting the costs and benefits of each;
    • Protecting and enforcing a lender’s claim in bankruptcy; and
    • Financing a reorganizing borrower.

    The Workout and Bankruptcy curriculum is suitable for account, portfolio, and credit managers with at least 2 years of experience, as well as those looking to learn more about managing relationships that are at risk of material default.
